Working for a cycling retailer, I am tasked with writing product descriptions for countless products from countless brands from around the world. Every one of them has their own style.
Road bike companies tend to be more sophisticated and focused on the technical aspects of what makes their bike the lightest, fastest, most aero, and all-around best. Mountain bike companies tend to skew more about having fun and creating a positive user experience. Tech companies like Garmin and Wahoo are all about engineering and the latest innovations.
It is my job to make sure that RA Cycles delivers the message of each product from each company the way the manufacturer intended.
Garmin is a well-known and well-trusted global tech company. They own Tacx, who makes some of the most advanced indoor bike trainers on the market. Tacx trainers are absolutely packed with features, and they are not cheap, so customers want to know exactly what they are getting.
When I write descriptions for Garmin and Tacx, I am sure to highlight all features without overwhelming the reader. This usually results in a longer description, but one that is still easy to read and get a potential customer excited about the product.
My specifications on advanced products like Garmin are very through and offer the exact information that the manufacturer provides. Accuracy and understanding of the product is crucial in this section.
